The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), The International Organization for Migration(IOM) and other stakeholders have marked the 2023 edition of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons in Benin City, capital of Edo state . The annual event which is usually commemorated on the 30th day of July, is to create awareness on human trafficking as well as promote and protect the rights of trafficked victims, which include persons  with disabilities . The campaign is also an opportunity to sensitize the public on the emerging trends and developments regarding vulnerable groups targeted by human traffickers, including migrants , refugees, asylum-seekers, internally displaced persons, survivors of Gender Based Violence and others . Hon. Ndudi Elumelu. Most of those elected on the platform of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election need to be very prayerful to avert losing their seats, as the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Asaba, Delta State , on Monday, voided the election of Hon. Ngozi Okolie who represents Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives . Hon. Okolie of the Labour Party was returned elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the February 25, 2023 general election . The tribunal in the judgement held that Hon. Okolie was not duly sponsored by the Labour Party, as he was not a member of the party as at May 28, 2022 when the primary purportedly held. The tribunal subsequently declared the runner up in the election, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of the election. Hon. The argument was centred on the  gubernatorial aspirant that should be voted for, out of those that have shown interest . Edo State Police Command has reported the recovery of a 12 year old boy suspected to have been missing . In a press release signed by the command's Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the dark complexioned boy was found at the 5-Junction area, along Uselu /Lagos Road, Benin city by a kind hearted Nigerian and brought to Textile Mill Police Station, Benin city . The child, Master Prosper Odiase  who speaks English and Benin languages told the police that he lives with a woman at Sapele road, Benin city but could not locate or identify the residence . According to the press release, the Commissioner of Police, Edo state command, CP Mohammed A Dankwara,  has directed the Police Public Relations Officer and the officers at the Command Control Room to disseminate the information of the found child to all Area Commands, Divisional Police Headquarters, Formations and the Media for identification and claims.  The press release also contained the appreciation of

Friday Itulah as S.A on political matters (South -South), to the speaker of the House of Representatives , Hon. Tajudeen Abass .  A protest letter addressed to the speaker    and signed by the Chairman of the party in the state , Col.(Dr.) David Imuse (rtd) stated that the appointment has demoralized and devastated members of the party in Edo Central Senatorial Zone and the entire state . The letter expressed disappointment over the appointment of Hon. Itulah who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo Central Zone, an opposition  party , in place of members of the APC . President of the Nigerian 10th Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio has announced the names of Principal Officers in the red chamber . Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele, APC, Ekiti Central was announced as the Senate Majority Leader, while Sen. Ali Ndume, APC, Borno South became the Chief Whip of the Senate. Sen. David Umahi , APC, Ebonyi South was announced as Deputy Senate Leader while Sen. Oyelola Ashiru , APC, Kwara South was listed as Deputy Chief Whip . Also on the list are Senators Simon Mwadkwon, PDP, Plateau North and Darlington Nwokocha , LP, Abia Central who were announced as Senate Minority Leader and Minority Whip respectively .
