A MESSAGE TO OUR GOVERNORS AS WE AWAIT THE ESTABLISHMENT OF STATE POLICE IN NIGERIA .

By Besiru Enakhimion. Many Nigerians have for long, clamoured for the establishment of state police in the country . Such Nigerians have listed some of the benefits of the force as, a boost in security of lives and property as well as creation of employment, as many Nigerians that will be recruited into the force will decrease the unemployment market. Based on the alacrity with which members of the National Assembly and the presidency are working on the idea, soon the state police will be officially and finally born in the country. Just as many Nigerians have clamoured for the establishment of the new organization, others have been sceptical about it. Some of the fears expressed by such people are part of my message to our state governors in this piece. By : Besiru Enakhimion. First, I attempted to title this piece as, "The stubborn fly accompanies the coffin into the grave",  as the great people of Esan land have put it in a parable. I eventually left it the way it is above to attract the University and the government to it, for a quick response and solution. Some years ago, vehicular accidents were recorded at the front of the main gate of the University of Benin on regular basis. Some university students were victims of such accidents, that later resulted to riots and disruption of traffic.  It was really difficult for pedestrians to cross the ever busy high way from one side to the other then. It was to save the lives of motorists and the pedestrians that the government built a comfortable pedestrian bridge across the road. Proposed Hunger Protest : AAU Management Advises Restriction of Students' Movements To Ekpoma

Ahead of the much talked about Nationwide hunger protests organized by Civil Society and other related groups, the Management of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, in line with the directive of the National Universities Commission (NUC), on the safety of staff and students of various Nigerian institutions of higher learning, has directed that the students of the institution should, as a matter of urgency and security expediency, remain calm in their hostels and halls of residences.  In a statement issued by the University's Acting Registrar, Comrade Ambrose E. Comrade Philip Shaibu has given reasons for supporting the governorship candidate of All Progressives  Congress in Edo 2024 Guber election, Senator Monday Okpebholo  . He described the Senator as a fresher that has not been contaminated yet. " The APC candidate I am supporting, I am supporting him because he is a fresher, he is not contaminated yet .
