Edo 2024 : Students Pledge Support For Shaibu's Aspiration

By Besiru Enakhimion. The aspiration of Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu to take over from Mr. Godwin Obaseki as the governor of the state in 2024 has received a  boost from students of the University of Benin, UNIBEN. The students who were led by past and serving leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS as well as EXCO members of several departments converged on the Campaign Office of Rt. Hon. Shaibu in Benin City, to pledge their support for his governorship ambition. Some of the students who spoke were Comrade Gilbert Success, aka UNIBEN Oracle,  Comrade Gerald Nnamdi and Comrade Happiness Ugheghele. They took turn to pledge their unflinching support for the deputy governor's aspiration. Urhoghide Trains Additional 100 People in Skill Acquisition Programme

Matthew Urhoghide, fondly called, the promise keeper has fulfilled another part of his social contract with the people of Edo South Senatorial District, by training and financially empowering 100 residents of the district. The training programme tagged, " Intervention Project for Empowerment and Intensive Training of Youths and Women on Agroforestry Enterprises in Edo State", took place at Bishop Kelly Pastoral Center, Benin City, on Wednesday, the 22nd of November, 2023. 100 women and youths selected from the Seven Local Government Areas of the Senatorial District were trained in Nursery Techniques management and seedlings production, Snail farming, Fish farming, Bee keeping and Honey production and Business Enterprises Development by personnel from Ibadan based Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria. Shaibu commissions boreholes to immortalize Madam Fatima Ahmadu

By Besiru Enakhimion. Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has commissioned two boreholes at Imiakeble in Etsako East Local Government Area of the state. He carried out the exercise at the 40-days fidau ceremony of late Madam Fatima Ahmadu. The boreholes were provided by the son of the deceased, Colonel Ahmed Ahmadu, to immortalize his late mother and grandmother.  At the solemn event, the Deputy Governor commiserated with the bereaved family and advised the members to, "stay strong and stand in to fill the gap created by the demise of mama Fatima". The Edo state number 2 citizen noted that Madam Ahmedu lived a life worthy of emulation. Shaibu expresses gratitude to Edo people

He expressed his appreciation to the people at a colourful harvest and thanksgiving ceremony, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Airport Road, Benin City, on Sunday , the 12th of November, 2023. Rt. Hon. Comrade Shaibu who dedicated his seven years as the number two citizen of the state to God, noted that the tenure has not been an easy journey. "However, I am happy and grateful to God, because in all things, He says we should give thanks". He declared. "So, for me, it has been seven years of honour to God, seven years of glory to God, seven years of God's favour in my life and in my home. "Looking back, God has preserved my life and I am thankful to Him; with what I have seen from the beginning till now, I must say that  God has been merciful. "

Inneh Elliot has congratulated the First lady of Edo state, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki on the successful hosting of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament in Benin City. He expressed happiness that the 3rd edition of the FIFA recognized tournament was won by the Edo state female football club, the Edo Queens Football Club, formerly known as Inneh Queens. In a congratulatory message to Mrs. Obaseki, made available to journalists, Hon. Inneh Elliot who is the Chief Whip of the Egor Legislative Arm, declared that the competition has further boosted female football in Edo state and beyond.  He also thanked the state government for sustaining the first female football club in the state, the Edo Queens Football Club. Shaibu Harps on Sustenance of Democracy in Nigeria

By Besiru Enakhimion. Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has charged Nigerian students to work hard  for the sustenance of the nation's  democracy. He gave the charge at  the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Summit, held at Imaguero College in Benin City. The event hosted by the NANS Vice President (Inter-Campus Affairs), Comrade Vanessa Egbeahie, had business monguls, technocrats, politicians and other important personalities from all walks of life, in attendance . The Deputy Governor,  who was one of the key-note speakers, urged the students to be hardworking, diligent, focused and determined in the pursuit of the growth and development of Nigeria. Rt.
