In Edo North Senatorial District, one time Governor of Edo State and National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomole emerged as the Senatorial Candidate of the party at the 2023 general election.

The former President of Nigeria Labour Congress was returned unopposed as his rival, Senator Francis Alimikhena who is the incumbent Senator from the district withdrew from the race on Friday and subsequently resigned from the party.

Unlike the earlier cases where winners emerged unopposed, the ticket for Edo South Senatorial District was keenly contested. At the end of the election, the former youth leader in the state, Mr. Valentine Asuen (a.k.a DVD) was declared the winner.

He defeated a one time Deputy Governor in the state, Chief Lucky Imasuen . Mr. Asuen scored 216 votes while Chief Imasuen scored 158 votes. Four votes were voided.

In his speech, Chief Imasuen who accepted the outcome of the election said he went into the race late.
" We need to now work together to ensure that we win the general election ". He declared.

On his part, Mr. Asuen said he will work with all members of the party to ensure victory.

In his brief reaction,  the elated current youth leader of the party in the state, Comrade Tony Adun disclosed that Mr. Asuen's victory was made possible by the youths. He urged them (the youths) to replicate the same feat in the general election.
